About The Support Centre & Team

Dorrigo Support Centre is funded through: The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is a government-subsidised program for people:

  • 65 years and over,
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 50 years and over,
or aged 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) on a low income, homeless or at risk of homeless.

The program can give you the help you need to stay independent in your home and/or community on your terms. If you want a little support to stay active, social and doing the things you like, we can help.

With the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) the focus is on working with you, rather than taking over and doing it all for you. It's about building on what you can do, but assisting you with those tasks that you find difficult to acheive.

Dorrigo Support Centres focus is on working with you and our services are designed to:

  • Provide company, friendship, monitor well-being and social support through home visits.
  • Provide daytime activities and support for bus trips, town lunches, picnics, bingo, and/or craft activities.
  • Provide local transport to access local doctors and/or Allied Health Professionals; shopping or activities.
  • Supported Holidays to varied locations and interesting places.
  • Domestic Assistance
  • Monthly Newsletters to keep you informed.

The wonderful team here at Dorrigo Support Centre is one of both paid employees and eager volunteers, who all offer a friendly smile, a hot coffee and tea and an open ear if you'd like one. All staff will happily advocate on your behalf if need be, or even just come over and read the newspaper. Within reason, if you want it we'll try and make it happen!
